For help choosing the right equipment for your situation, select from the following: Choosing Marine Speakers Head Unit Mounting Considerations When mounting your stereo consider that CD player models should not be mounted at an angle greater than 30 degrees. The recommended angle is not more than 20 degrees. While you could potentially mount the stereo completely on it’s side and it would play a CD, you may lose the shock protection built into the unit. As soon as you hit that first wave the CD could slip out of position and damage the internal workings.

How Do I Hook Up my subwoofer? Hook up Powered Subwoofers: Receiver Pre-Outs Before trying to hook up your subwoofer, you need to identify the connections it has. First, take a look at the back of your subwoofer.

With so many people using home theater systems, we’re used to seeing preamps and processors that have a subwoofer out; often called the channel or LFE output. Tigertronics has not verified the accuracy of all of the radio wiring information that is provided here. It is essential that you double-check this information against your radio’s manual before doing the actual installation. All other jumper settings are the same. Note that if you mistakenly install the PWR jumper, it will make no difference in the operation of the unit as this pin is not internally connected.

For any given radio, there are likely to be a different jumper settings for the Mic, Data and Accessory Port connectors. Jumper Wire Color – The jumper wires in the diagrams below are shown in color for illustrative purposes only. The color of the wires means nothing – they’re just easier to see! The actual jumper wires that are included with the SignaLink are all the same color and can be used to jumper any signal. We have numbered our connector according to the dominant industry standard as shown below , and all jumper settings shown in our documentation reflect this standard.

Icom and Radio Shack follow this standard, but Kenwood, Yaesu and some others do not. All of the jumper settings show below have been corrected as necessary to account for any reversed pin numbering. If your radio is not shown below and you need to figure out your own jumper settings, then you will need to carefully determine how your mic connector is numbered to avoid reversing the connections!

The OC dspargo said: The receiver has the ability to run both A and B speakers at the same time. The receiver manual says all the speakers 3 in this case will be run in a series. It will be better in that there will be less resistance in the wire between the amp and the speakers. If you run the speakers through the sub you will use more wire. You will also have more connections.

Most connections degrade the signal somewhat. However, it would likely be best to run the speakers through the sub if you needed to use the passive crossover which is built into the sub. If you can match the sub to the natural roll off of the speakers without the crossover then you’re probably better off with the direct connections from the amp to the speakers. You don’t want to run the main speakers and the sub speaker inputs in series.

If that’s your only choice than I suggest you hook them both up to A. If you can’t fit both wires into the terminals, hook up a short pair of speaker wires, and tie the other ends of them to the speaker wires. You can use inexpensive wirenuts to put this together.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Rep Power: So I just traded my ’06 Laredo for an ’05 Limited and the audio needs attention In the last Jeep, the factory system was really simple.

I bought this amp new in Upgraded it from 65w to 80w in the late 80’s. still works very well, with the exception of a volume control, that I believe has corroded contacts. looking for someone to fix it.

Pitch Black Playhard said: Im thinking of the same setup. Did you have to use a line out converter on your stock sub wires before the amp? Or can you just plug them into the specker level inputs on the amp thus by-passing the need for LOC? I took the stock sub signal straight from the plug that went to my factory sub and ran it into the speaker level inputs on my Kenwood mono amp.

It works great, and makes the addition of an aftermarket sub and amp stupid easy. While reading up on the specs of my amp, I discovered that the max input to the speaker level inputs should not exceed something like 40 watts. It doesn’t say if that’s RMS, but I with with that assumption. Without a test bench I couldn’t be sure, but I figured “hoped” might be more accurate that it shouldn’t be putting out that much on the stock sub amp signal from the w system. So I took a chance and plugged it up, and it seems to work and sound great.

So just keep in mind that you might be taking a chance with your amp if you use your speaker level inputs. All I can say is that the Kenwood D seems to handle it just fine.

The amplifier supplies the power needed for high-output 6×9 speakers to reach their full potential, filling your can with sound or blasting it out the windows at passersby. Wiring speakers to an amp is not difficult, and you can save time and money wiring your own speakers to an amplifier rather than taking your car to the local audio shop to have the speakers wired up. Measure and determine the length of wire you will need to reach from your 6×9 speakers to your amplifier.

Most often 6×9 speakers are installed at the rear of the vehicle, and the amplifier sits in the trunk, so you shouldn’t need more than a few feet of wiring.
